Winter 2001, we picked our daughter in Amsterdam, who just flew from Tuscon visiting her fiance. She hold a German passport, but since she was born, she never lives in a 4 season nation, so this is her 1st time to experience real snow :D

One of many unique Rotterdam architecture : the Kijkkubus or the cube houses for complete story @ www.kubuswoning.nl

Bridges are also spectacular. One of them is this Erasmusbrug, connects the north and south part of Rotterdam. Designed by Ben Van Berkel and done in 1996. It’s one of many Rotterdam’s landmark. A cable stayed bridge w/139 meters high pylon.

Rotterdam is also the biggest seaport in Europe & not only accomodate giant ships, private maritime life are also easy to be found in every corner of this city.

AJ, an old good friend of my husband moved to Holland & lives peacefully with his family in this tiny town in the north, about an hour driving from Amsterdam. He & his wife N, lead us from Dorthin hotel -where we stayed- by the Schipol airport, to their nest. We passed many tourist scenic spots along the way. Thank you N&AJ, it’s a real pleasure to visit you :D

Their house is enourmus – for European size. Double story : big workshop, 3 cars garage & office in the front, huge living rm on the back. Kitchen as big & professional as in a restaurant’s. Dining rm that can accomodate 10 people conveniently. 5 to 6 sizable bed rm & 3 full bathrm on the 1st floor. And around 300 sqm green well manicured back yard.

I even couldn’t belive there is a real family house like this in Holland :D well, many Dutch I knew, prefer to live in a tiny living squater in big city :D

Officialy Den Haag is the Dutch capital, but less famous than Amsterdam or Rotterdam. And while we drove trough, unfortunately we couldn't find something exciting in this city. Its skyline, building fasade & the atmosphere was dull & depressing.

European capital for decent Indonesian food :D Its canals're famous, but don't forget this is Europe, Venice has more, so does Hamburg and many other. Museums, art galleries, street-art really soothed my soul :D Something new for me : half naked women freely show their private merchandise in etalage, it's legal here though :D
